refugee = human
My first objective with this was to put a human face on refugees--to understand that they are living human beings. But when I found an image of this young girl, she was so vulnerable and so human that it broke my heart. She is Syrian, one of the almost five million who have fled and continue to flee that conflict.
I’m drawn to the open spaces in this image. As the girl hurries along clutching at her doll, there is no place to hide. She is completely exposed.
